Kentucky 's Voluntary Child Care Quality Rating System

Why should my child care program participate?

   • To show parents and community members your program's visible interest in quality child care for children


   • To become a part of a nationwide effort to provide a good start to every child

How often will my program be rated and by whom?

     •  Rating visits are conducted annually by a specially trained STAR Rating Team from the regional child care licensing offices.

What are the requirements to participate?

    Type I Grid

    • Certified Home Grid
