Race to the Top - Early Learning Challenge

Provide support for development of new Kentucky Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement System (TQRIS) and prototypes to support coaching models for Child Care Aware (CCA) of KY. Funding provided through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Collaboration with KY Department of Education and Cabinet for Health and Family Services to collect and analyze child assessment data to support federal and state reporting requirements under IDEA.www.kedsonline.org.

TTIEC: Transformational Transfer Initiative Early Childhood

In collaboration with the Department for Behavioral Health (DBH), the Division of Child Care (DCC), the Department for Public Health (DPH), and the HDI’s KEDS project, TTIEC enhances services for children in early care by supporting best practice for screening and assessment. TTIEC is developing a mechanism to expand reporting of early care screening data in community-based settings, as a needed vehicle for identification of areas of concern, referral processes, and follow-up services among young children in KY.

Early Childhood Research and Development Initiative

An initiative designed to enhance services and supports offered through HDI in the area of early intervention and early childhood special education and invest in research and innovative programs focused on young children from birth through age 8, their families, and the programs that serve them.

National Early Childhood Transition Center

The National Early Childhood Transition Center examined factors that promote successful transitions between infant/toddler, preschool, and public school programs for young children with disabilities and their families. Areas of focus included recent research in transition; child, family, program, and community factors that influence children’s transition to school and school readiness; state transition policies and practices; and socially validated transition practices.

CONNECT Modules: An evidence-based practice approach to professional development 

CONNECT: The Center to Mobilize Early Childhood Knowledge

Web-based resources and modules on effective practices to help faculty and professional development providers build early childhood practitioners' abilities to make evidence-based decisions. Funded through the U.S. Department of Education.

Provided training and technical assistance throughout the Commonwealth to families and professionals interested in early childhood transition, evidence-based practice, emerging trends, and changing legal requirements for transition.
