Supporting Infants and Toddlers

Because the first three years of life are crucial to a child’s development, Child Care Aware supports early care and education providers through technical assistance on quality environments, language and literacy development, and developing meaningful connections and relationships from birth.

Connecting Employers to employee resources for child care

Work and family policies have emerged as key factors for businesses who need to be competitive. The reason: the changing composition of the American workforce. Most households have caregivers who are working outside the home. Offering family friendly support can help you to recruit and retain high quality employees.

Consumer Education

Child Care Aware of Kentucky is committed to providing parents with information and access to resources to make informed decisions. These resources include, but are not limited to:

Understanding the Implications of Homelessness on Kentucky's child care population

Research has shown that homelessness puts children at increased risk of poor health, developmental delays, academic underachievement and mental health challenges. Providing early childhood professionals with information on identifying families, accessing supports, removing barriers, responding to family needs and engaging in strategic collaboration with community partners are all necessary to meet the needs of these families.

The resources listed below can assist child care providers in ensuring that these young children are prioritized for services that support their learning and development.

Social-Emotional Health

Healthy social emotional development is the child's capacity to:

  • Form secure relationships
  • Experience and regulate emotions and,
  • Explore and learn

Starting from birth, babies learn who they are by how they are treated. Loving relationships provide young children with a sense of comfort, safety and confidence. They teach young children how to form friendships, communicate emotions and deal with challenges. -Zero to Three
